-for Ms Lees to know if we're honest about our opinion.
-to let our parents know that we're responsible for our work in school.

Learning Blog ( December 3rd, block 1)

Today at 3rd block, we did and learned...

-        Hand in the Dialectical Journals and Observation Sheets
-        Learned how to change the Template on our blog.
-        Correct some mistake of a post about Leaning Blog.

The dialectical journals is where student have to choose a quote, give connections, ask questions, group discussion, self and group goals and what we did well. The backside of the observation sheets is Sample Rubric, which the teachers can use and adapt the rubric to gather observations about some key aspect of oral language. Moreover, we learned how to change the Template and the color of the text on the blog, so readers can still easily read the information while there is a beautiful background. Finally, Ms. Lees go over with a post about learning blog so we know what is the criteria of this.

Homework:

-        Finish Self Assessment booklet. ( Due on Friday)
-        Paragraph booklet. ( Do not write on it. It’s for notes. Due on next 2 weeks.)
-        Retest tomorrow, 11:15 at lunch ( Plot Diagram)
-        Innovation Fair Proposal due on next Tuesday! December 9th.

Learning Blog (December 3rd, block 2)

What did we do?

-Teacher and/or self assessment
-Paragraph booklet (Just skimming through pages)

Why did we do it?

-To be able to review what we have done
-To assess where we think we are at
-To think back to what kind of work he have done to help certain skills (plot diagram, character web, think-aloud, etc.)

-To make our paragraphs better
-To see what a paragraph needs in order for it to be even considered a "paragraph"

How was today's class skills or subject matter relevant (important) beyond Hum 8?

-Because it's something we have to do in other classes
-We need to know what we're doing good
-We need to know what needs improvement

-For other writing purposes (books, letters, etc.)

Where might it be useful and how?

-Other classes because it's something that we need to know (what needs improvement and what doesn't and why)
-Other times in our social life and school life considering that sometimes write letters or emails for special occasions and general work in school as well

Homework reminders?

-Teacher and/or self assessment (whole sheet, due this Friday)
-Paragraph booklet (if you want, skim it as we will be going over it during the two weeks)
-Re-test tomorrow at lunch

Learning Blog (December 2nd, 2014)

What did we do?
- We talked about our group and had our group discussions. We self assessed as well as talked about what we could improve on next times discussion, We observed the other group we were paired up with and took notes and scored the others by watching them discuss about their own book.
Why did we do it?
- We did it so we could all come together as a group and ask questions that we were unsure about. We discussed because it would help our groups have a better understanding of the book and make sure that all of us were on the same page and didn't have any other extra thoughts and questions about it.
Reflections and Connections
- I think that this will help us in the future by teaching us that discussing and asking questions isn't always so bad, it teaches us that discussing a part and and asking questions help you understand a lot better than trying to figure out things on your own. This also helps us open up to more people.
Homework Reminders - Our group discussion and self assessing sheets are due tomorrow (December 3rd 2014)

Learning Blog (December 1st, 2014)

(Sorry my internet was down Yesterday so I'll be posting on the blog today, yesterday's work)

What did we do?
Today in class, we gave in our learning logs (which were long overdue). We talked about our learning intention.
Why did we do it?
What can make us be better learners since our class has a hard time handing in homework. We all talk about why and how we can improve handing in homework on time and with effort, after this we started asking for study buddies. Study buddies are basically buddies that study with you, enough said. We find at least 2 study buddies and we share phone numbers and e-mails, we discuss when we can call e-mail for help. We also had watched a video with Ms Lees called The Surprising Truth about What Motivates Us. It was a very good video and it introduced us to many different ways of motivation.
Reflections, etc.
Moving on, we came back to the topic of how we could improve our homework assignments and we said why people might look like they're listening, but they're not. This goes to show that when Ms Lees is talking and we are "listening" the information goes through one ear and out the other. My opinion on how we could pay more attention in class is that Ms Lees should look at everyone's eyes. If their eyes are not facing straight forward to the speaker, then Ms Lees will stop everyone and call on that one person's name saying they had to pay attention, therefore stopping every time someone is not focusing. This means we will be embarrassing the people who do not pay attention and they will remember next time that if they don't look at the board, your fellow peers will look at you and you wouldn't want that, would you?
Homework Reminders
Finish off your Lit Circles since we didn't have the time today.

Just a quote and picture from some of those procrastinators. I, myself am a procrastinator. This message has a meaning to me because I tend to procrastinate and end up not doing my work ever. I like to look at this quote to remind myself that if I don't do something now, it might never happen.

Talent vs Skill

*one swearing word. :c
Honestly, this video truly goes through my heart and in my soul. I just love how they spoke about success and failure, the quote that I love most in here is "Just because you failed, doesn't make you a failure." I feel that this quote is awfully true, many times in my life I have failed and felt like a failure. But now I know that I have to fail, because failure is a stepping stone to success.
More quotes:
"There are sometimes when things aren't going to go right. They just aren't going to go right."
"They're are times when anything that can happen will happen."
"You gotta believe in yourself."
"You gotta believe in your abilities."
"You gotta have faith and that faith gives you patience."
