Course Selection Fair

We had a variety of thing to choose from at the Course selection fair. It was really hard to choose from but what got me interested was the technology, Drafting, Cam, Info Tech. For me, my future career is a computer engineer and I need all the practice I can get while I'm still in high school. I extremely enjoy working with technology, therefore I chose CAM in my course selection.
I am also someone who likes to act, someone who likes to make people laugh, it is one of my very close hobbies. So of course, I also took Drama9. I am already in Fire Hawk Theatre Club, so I know what we usually do and it is pretty enjoyable.
Last but not least, I chose Enhanced French 9 because, I came from a French immersion elementary and what we learned in grade 7, we are learning in Grade 12 French. So I rather stick with my French and become a francophone.

Course Selection

                 I would like to take drafting, woodcraft and art metal in the future. I chose draftingbecause I’m not good at drafting and I want to improve this skill. Moreover, I want to become an engineer, which drafting will be an important skill for this job.

                 I join the woodwork this year and it looks really fun, so I decided to join woodcraft next year. The reason of joining woodcraft instead of woodwork is because I like to do art instead of making furniture.

                 I chose art metal because I’d never work with metal in my life until I turned to grade 8. I think this skill will be also very useful when I grow up. I’d also tried metal work this year as well, it was really fun as well.

Course Selection

I honestly have no idea of what I want to be when I grow up. Everything at school was just something that had to be done, so I never noticed what I actually enjoyed doing. Looking into it now, I remember how much I love writing, hence why I am looking forward to literature 12, which is in room 212 with Ms.MacRae. One of the many other things I like doing inside and outside of school is P.E. Although this wasn't one of the many poster boards there, I heard that you have a choice of taking this class or not in grade 11 and 12. The last class that I was just a tad interested in was woodwork. All the other electives didn't really appeal to me, but knowing that woodwork was a hands-on class just intrigued me to pick the elective. If I wanted to look more into it, I could always call 604-587-4821, or come down to the Industrial Technology Department myself. The only hope I have for now is that when I get older, I will be able to decide on what I want to be, and choose my elective according to what kind of help it will give me for university, and my future.

Learning Blog Log 12/17/14

Today in class ( first block ), we went over our past few days with the TOC's and discussed about whether we were appropriate in class and if the TOC's gave us the correct work and instructions to do. We had also planned out our " commercials" that were going to be filmed during block 2 of today. Our lit circle groups came together as one and we came up with ideas and talked about the pros and cons of our book and planned out how our commercial was going to look like. We came up with ideas that would persuade our audience to "buy" our book.

 Why did we do it?
- We discussed about the past few days with the TOCs to get organised and get up to date. We brainstormed our ideas for the commercial because we had to get off a start and brainstorming and working together as a group would be a great start to making a successful commercial.

Reflections and Connections;
I think that going over and discussing ideas with people will help me outside of humanities because it teaches me that working and expressing my ideas with other people helps me open up to others and hearing about their own ideas makes me reflect on myself and it teaches me that working by myself isn't always the best way to do something.

Homework reminders-
- We can go and film our commercials before school, after, and during lunch as well.
- Paragraphs from booklet are due Friday.
